Book Blurb:

Vinter is not your typical businessman. Tattoos, piercings and not a suit and tie in sight. One-third owner of a bar and a tattoo parlor along with being a bassist in a band, Vinter comes and goes as he pleases. He likes his beer cold, his music hard and his women scorching hot. Until he’s knocked off his game by a suburban doll he can’t stop wanting.

Elise needs a change. In men. The buttoned-up businessmen she’s been dating leave a lot to be desired—in romance, in respect and most definitely in sex. A recent text message from her now ex-lover drives Elise into a popular bar on the outside of town, where she meets one of its owners. He’s just the kind of man she’s never had and definitely the kind she’s always fantasized about. Big, bad and oh so naughty.

Unexpected tenderness. Unimaginable lust. Being dumped has never felt so damn good.

My Review:

I really enjoyed this novella, it was incredibly erotic with a hero that I'm usually not attracted to but that I found irresistible.  There are some slight elements of BDSM in the book, however, nothing overwhelming.  The plot moved at a decent pace and overall the book was a good read.

Elise is woman who has just been dumped via text message.  She's feeling sorry for herself and can't understand why she's been unable to find the "right man" for herself.  She decided to go out drinking on her own and goes into a bar that she has never been in and proceeds to have a few drinks.  At this point Elise is really disgusted with herself and realizes that she has been exercising really bad judgement when it comes to men, the solid business types that she has been dating for the last several years are simply not working out.

Vinter is an unusual man, he has short hair but has piercings, tattoos and his finger nails are painted black.  He's not your typical businessman but he is part owner of the bar that Elise has been spending the last few hours in.  He's incredibly attracted to her and wonders if he is out of her "league".  He's determined to find out and strikes up a conversation with Elise.

Both Elise and Vinter are looking for something that they have not found with anyone else.  Vinter senses that Elise is what he has been looking for and seriously hits on her at the bar and convinces her to leave with him.  They proceed to have an incredibly hot encounter against the back door of his bar and then he convinces her to go home with him.

Elise realizes that she is not meant for the lifestyle that she has been leading, which has been hampering her sexuality.  She wants more out of her life than business meetings and a man that is more concerned with getting ahead in his career than in taking care of her.  Meanwhile, Vinter realizes that he has found the life partner that he has been looking for in Elise and is surprised to discover that she doesn't consider herself good enough for him.  How Ms. Matthews has the characters work through their early relationship issues is very well done.

One factor that I liked about the character of Elise is that she is not a petite, thin heroine.  She is an average sized woman with a more curves than the average heroine.  Vinter is also somewhat unusual in that he has a very interesting body piercing that left me intrigued.  All in all this was a very fun book to read.

My Rating:  4.5 out of 5 Stars
