Hotshot sports reporter Sage Millan has been busy making a name for herself in the male dominated world of baseball. She’s just landed her dream job, and her first assignment is covering the newly crowned World Series champions, The Kingston Crushers. This is the opportunity of a lifetime. Professional baseball player Nicolas Cordova is having the time of his life. His team has just won the World Series, and with the victory comes more fame, women, and exposure than he ever could have imagined. But things are about to change for the sexy, charismatic athlete. These days Sage is smarter, more mature, and doesn’t plan on being played a second time. Her appearance stirs old memories for Nic. She’s the one he let get away in the name of his career. He vows he can be the man she needs this time around. Will that be enough to mend her broken heart?

Excerpt

“I’ll admit I’ve had many women in the past, and I can’t apologize for living. But as the years went by, my feelings for you were always someplace deep in my heart. I know that’s why I can’t settle down. Why I can’t find the peace I’ve been searching for. It doesn’t exist without you.”

“How can you say things like that? You don’t even know the woman I’ve become. I’m not that girl who relied on you, the one who would’ve followed you anywhere. I’m not her anymore, Nic. I can’t ever be her again.”

“Maybe I’m not asking for her.” He leaned closer to her face. “Maybe I want to know the woman you are today. I want another shot at this.”

“No,” she whispered.

“If you remember anything about me, I have a hard time with that word.” He tipped her chin, focusing on her lips. “I am going to kiss you. Right here and right now.”

Her knees buckled as a cool tremor swept through her. She wanted to say no. It was the only logical word to mutter, but her heart didn’t want her to say it. Her body wasn’t on board with turning him down either. The warmth that built in her stomach had moved lower, and now all she could think about was his lips on hers.

“It doesn’t sound like you’re asking,” she breathed out.

“I’m not.”

Before she could say anything else, his mouth was on hers, eager, but slow and soft. His stubble grazed along her chin as he tilted his head and deepened their bond. The sound throughout the crowded lobby seemed to fade into the background, and soon, all she could hear was her heart pumping loud between her ears. Why did he have to be such a freakin’ good kisser?

After the incredibly long connection, he pulled away, but not before stopping to kiss the bottom corner of her mouth like he used to.

“I’ve waited a long time to do that,” he said. “It was worth every lonely minute.”

“I... Nic...” She’d always had the gift of words. It was what she did for a living, but in that moment, all of her thoughts were jumbled and senseless.

“It’s okay.” He grinned as he stroked her cheek. “Let’s get something to eat and maybe figure this out. Whatever this is.”

“No.” She ran her hands along his strong chest, resting them on his shoulders.

“Don’t over analyze this, baby.” He glanced down at her hands on his body. “Let’s just go with it.”

“That’s what I’m trying to tell you.” She took a breath and continued before she lost her nerve. “Take me upstairs to your room. I know how we can figure this out.”

“What are you asking?” He placed his hand on the small of her back, drawing her closer to him. “You need to be real clear.”

“I want to go upstairs with you.”

“That’s not why I kissed you.”

“Isn’t it?” She smirked. “We’re adults now, Nicky. Let’s settle this like adults.”

“I’m not looking to settle anything. That usually means it’s over, and we’re nowhere near over.” He motioned for Joe. “I’ll take care of the bar tab and then we’ll get dinner.”

“No.” She draped her arms around his neck, intoxicated by the idea of being so close to him again. He may be older now, and may have lost those boyish looks, but the man he had become suited him and drove her wild with need.

“What did I tell you about that word?”

“I can guarantee I won’t be using it once we’re in your bedroom.” She ran her tongue along her top lip. “I’m going to the ladies room. When I come out, if you’re not by the elevators waiting for me, I’ll know that kiss was nothing more than the heat of the moment and we can go on with our lives.”

“Sage?”

“Shh.” She pressed her lips to his. “Now who’s over analyzing?” She reached for her purse and coat hanging on the back of the stool. “I’ll see you in a few minutes.” I hope.

EXCERPT

When Lillian Tisdale dreamt of that magical moment when she would fall in love, she never imagined that it would be so sudden, so complete, or so…

Literal.

Lilly, as she was more commonly known, sat cradled in between a large branch and the massive trunk of the hundred year old willow tree near the pond at Brightly, her family’s ancestral estate. She set her sketch book and charcoal pencil down on the branch and took a moment to appreciate the scenery before her. Brightly was noted for its lush gardens and rolling green hills, and she found it impossible to imagine any other property in England being as lovely.

This was her favorite tree, had been for years, and one of the only places she could disappear to when she felt the need for a respite from her three sisters and older brother. She relished the quiet of her hiding place, the silence disturbed only by the soft wind skimming the pond, the rustling of the leaves in the oak groves, and the occasional coo of a nesting bird.

“You naughty minx!”

Lilly startled, the unexpected sound of a man’s voice coming from out of nowhere. She steadied herself against the branch in front of her, knocking her sketchbook onto the ground in the process. She sighed, doubting the book would survive the fall intact. She’d spent the last of her pin money on that sketchbook and wouldn’t be able to afford a new one for at least a month. Her parents, for all their wealth, were sticklers when it came to their children’s allowances.

“You’re a wicked, wicked man, Mr. Colton!”

This time, the voice was distinctly female and the name she mentioned sounded familiar...

About the book:

Dixie Lee Brown concludes her thrilling Trust No One series with the fast-paced tale of a damaged hero and the sexy fugitive he can't help falling for.

Samantha "Mac" McCallister barely believes her own tale of dirty cops and murder that landed her in the hands of the sexy Jim Brady. One minute she was enjoying a ride-along in her best friend's cruiser, the next he's dead and she's wanted for his murder. Mac never expected to be hiding out from the law, but with Jim by her side, maybe she can survive long enough to clear her name. The question is, can she survive the way Jim makes her feel?

Former Navy Seal Jim Brady works best under pressure. At least he used to. Now, fighting flashbacks from his time in Iraq, he has given up everything he knows in order to protect the innocent … from himself. So working with a woman on the run from the law? Not in his plans for this lifetime. Still, something about the blue-eyed beauty tells him she's not the source of the danger—she's running from it. Deep down he knows he'll protect her no matter what. But his heart? That's another story.

EXCERPT

The radio crackled to life and they both automatically tuned in to the dispatcher.

“Anyone in the vicinity of 633 Lincoln Street, we have a 10-90.”

Silent alarm in progress. Mac always got a little shot of adrenaline when a call went out sending one of the Alaska State Troopers into an unknown situation. Most nights, she’d have been the one to make that call if not for this silly ride-along Paddy had talked her into. Eight years on the job gave her seniority among the small staff of dispatchers she shared her duties with, but she still chose the graveyard shift. Inevitably, the whack jobs and sickos came out after midnight.

Paddy scooped up the mike and held it to his mouth. “Copy that. Sierra Tango eighteen responding.”

“Roger, Sierra Tango eighteen.” Mac’s friend, Lucas, was covering her shift tonight.

“That’s just around the corner.” Paddy returned the mike to its hanger beside the radio. “Okay, finally, something to do besides drive around and argue with you. We’ll go in quiet and dark.”

The radio chirped again. “Negative, Sierra Tango eighteen. Simpson and I are right out front. We’ve got this.”

“Oh, hell.” Paddy’s disappointed sigh clearly indicated his level of boredom with the inactivity of the evening. He grabbed the radio. “Roger that. Sierra Tango eighteen out.” He turned toward Mac with a grin. “Your buddy, Gallagher…cutting in on my action.”

Mac chuffed a contemptuous breath. “He’s not my buddy.”

“Well, you went to the homecoming dance with him our senior year.”

“I can’t believe you! That was eight years ago. Give me a break. Besides, that was before I found out how horny he was.” She’d never told Paddy just how awful that night had been.

He snickered and reached toward her, pushing her long brunette waves behind her shoulder, his eyes asking forgiveness for bringing the whole thing up. Mac met his gaze and memories of the two of them growing up next door to each other, inseparable all through school, filled her mind. He was the one person she could always count on…no matter what. She loved him like a brother and could never stay irritated with him for more than two seconds.

Paddy moved his hand back to the steering wheel, hit his blinker and turned left onto Lincoln Street.

“What are you doing?” It was a foolish question, and she knew the answer. Except for her misguided decision to attend college in Anchorage, ended by a disastrously short career as an exotic dancer, she’d lived in Sitka all her life. The address the dispatcher had given was home to Wagner’s Fish Packing Plant, and it sat dead center in the middle of the next block.

Paddy grinned and winked. “Just a little drive-by—making sure they don’t need backup.”  He slowed as they approached the intersection, then braked sharply. “What the hell?”

Mac followed his gaze halfway down the block. The packing plant was on the right, an Alaska State cruiser parked on the street, and three guys stood in front of the entry. “Do you recognize them?” Sitka was a small town, but she’d never seen these men before.

Paddy shook his head slowly. “Those are automatic weapons they’re packing.” He killed the lights and made a quick left into a dark, sparsely populated lot, parked in the farthest corner, and grabbed the mike. “Dispatch, this is Sierra Tango eighteen. I’m at 633 Lincoln Street. Be advised of a possible 10-32. Are you in contact with Gallagher and Simpson?”

“Negative. No contact since they entered the building.”

“Copy that, dispatch. We’re going to need some more backup out here. I’ll have a look around.” Paddy placed the mike back on its hanger.

Lucas immediately put out the call for additional help, but Mac only heard bits and pieces of the thread. If she hadn’t taken the night off, she’d be the one making that call, sending backup to Paddy’s location. Man, it seemed so different—clinical—on that end. Out here it was just plain scary. Her heart pounded in her ears, and her stomach ached with dread. This wasn’t what she’d anticipated when Paddy had convinced her to ride along with him. She was a complete coward. Oh my God! She couldn’t breathe. She was hyperventilating.

When Do You Let Go Of Love?  By Cynthia Sax

When do you let go of love? When your loved one has sex with another person? Moves in with her/him? Marries your rival? Has a baby with her/him? At what point do you say ‘I have to let him/her go, move on, allow this love to fade?’

Sinful Rewards is a love triangle. Bee, an exhibitionist heroine, is torn between a billionaire with a dark secret and a bad boy biker.

In Sinful Rewards 7, Bee has sex with one of these hunky men. Does this mean she won’t find happiness with the other hero?

If you asked me this at the end of that story, I would have said ‘Yes, she’s chosen her man. There’s no going back. She’s fully committed.’ While writing Sinful Rewards 8, I began to have doubts.

The man Bee didn’t have sex with won’t let her go. He pursues her, tells her that what she did last night is history, forgotten. They can start again, save their relationship. He hasn’t reached the point where he’ll walk away from her.

Bee is aware of this. She knows that door hasn’t been closed, permanently locked. Yes, she believes she has made her choice but, in the back of her mind, she realizes both of the men continue to be options. She can change her decision.

I’ve only been in love with one man, my dear wonderful hubby. If he hadn’t loved me back, had begun dating another person (ouch), I might have let him go but I doubt I would have ever gotten over him. I would have always had hope that he’d come back to me. (This is all a guess. I don’t know how I truly would have reacted. Maybe I would have turned stalker on him. Who knows?)

When I was in ‘like’ with the previous guys I dated, I walked away from them when they started dating someone new. That was my line in the sand. I didn’t want to interfere with their relationships with these other women, to be the reason it didn’t work out between them. I waited for a few men, knowing the women were all wrong for them and their relationships wouldn’t last, but I didn’t try to speed the process or otherwise mess with their relationships.

Have you ever let go of love? At what point did you walk away, deciding it wasn’t meant to be?

“Don’t leave the club until I get there,” Hawke answers on the second ring, sounding as unhappy as I feel.

“Will that be soon?” I sink into one of Nicolas’s guest chairs, the seat deliciously soft and welcoming, tempting me to stay in this office forever. “Because I don’t like it here,” I whisper, covering my lips with my hand.

“Did you see something that made you uncomfortable?” Hawke’s voice roughens.

“I can’t see anything at all,” I confess. “It must be supermodels-drink-free night. Everyone is abnormally tall.”

This doesn’t draw the expected chuckle. My military man is unnervingly serious. “Is that all?”

“No.” I prop my aching foot on the other guest chair. My beautiful Louboutins are scuffed. I rub the dirt off the black leather. “Someone stomped on my foot, the one with the damaged toenail. I’ll lose it for certain now, and then I won’t be able to wear sandals for the rest of the summer.”

There’s a pause and I realize what I’ve done. I’m whiny about losing toenails and he’s dealing with one of his life-threatening FUBAR situations.

“Are you safe?” I press the cool phone case against my heated skin. “Do you need help? I can borrow a laptop or tablet from Nicolas and look at surveillance footage for you.” I wouldn’t ever have to leave the office.

“Nicolas has done enough for one night.” Hawke is angry and I don’t know why. “You were the center of attention. Everyone was watching you.”

What the hell did Mack tell him?

“It wasn’t a sexy type of attention,” I explain. “They were judging Cyndi and me harshly. Angel made a scene. I tried to run, but Nicolas wouldn’t allow me to escape.” I take a deep breath, dreading my military man’s reaction to the rest of the story. “He offered me a billion dollars to have sex with him.”

“And you refused because you’re not that type of girl,” Hawke replies. He hasn’t called me love or sweetheart, not once during our conversation. I’m the person he’s furious with, and I don’t know how to fix us.

“That’s not why I refused.” I’m a pervert. If Hawke had offered me a billion dollars, I would have taken it, been his prostitute for the evening.

But we won’t ever play those kinky games. He doesn’t have any money to spare.

Hawke sighs. “I’ll get there as soon as I can, Belinda.” He ends the call without uttering another word.

I stare at the screen. Hawke didn’t tell me to call if I needed him.

Because he no longer cares.

About the book:

Ever held your breath as the elevator doors slide open unsure of who could be staring back at you? And what about walking to your car and finding a note? Ever wish it was from the man who catches your attention?

Poor Samantha isn’t sure when to let loose of her breath. Her fresh start causes more problems than the nerves she feels on the first day of work. She soon falls prey to a love that transforms into evil, lies that become twisted, and threats that come to be promises. She’s oblivious that the elevator holds her love, her heart break and her strength.

I take a step to the side when the elevator chimes, stopping on the fifth floor. The doors open to the most gorgeous man I’ve ever laid eyes on. He’s a tall, dark brown haired angel wearing a perfectly tailored charcoal grey suit with a crisp white shirt and a grey striped tie with his hands in his pockets. His clean shaven, chiseled jawline shifts slightly when his lips curl into a sexy knowing smile, creating dimples that ignite an ache between my legs. My breath catches at the most mesmerizing set of azure blue eyes piercing into me. This man knows his eyes are capable of giving women multiple orgasms with just one look, and he’s not afraid to use them.

He steps in giving me a slight nod. “New here?” he asks, his voice silky.

I blink, realizing I’ve just been busted staring…at his mouth, his eyes, his drop dead gorgeous face. He probably thinks I’m a creep. Before I can answer, the smell of his woodsy mandarin cologne mixed with soap engulfs my body provoking succulent thoughts. It’s enticing and sexy, and I want it all over me and my sheets.

“Yes, sir,” I say on unsteady legs.

“Welcome to the company. I’m sure I’ll see you around.” He smirks as he exits the elevator, knowing damn good and well what he’s doing. The heat that spread throughout my body, I now feel on my cheeks.

I say nothing. I can’t. My poor brain can’t form words. My lungs hurt from the lack of oxygen, and my mouth is slack jawed. Dammit.

About the book:

Besides her family, Lacey Robinson’s only other love is baseball. She’s on top of the world when Arizona State University approaches her to discuss a scholarship. To play for a college boys’ team is beyond what she has ever dreamed. Her fastball is impeccable, her slider equally as good, and her curveball annihilates anyone who dares to step in the batter’s box. But fate has its own way of throwing curveballs. When she loses her mother and sister to a home invasion, baseball and her dreams die with them. Tragedy has a way of seeping deep into her psyche, causing nightmares, panic attacks and blackouts. Diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, her psychiatrist recommends a change of scenery and picking up the things that she loved to do, and for Lacey that is baseball.

After a move clear across the country, only two things matter to Lacey—overcome her PTSD and make Kensington High’s baseball team. But trying out for the team comes with complications—the captain, Aaron Seever, doesn’t want a girl on the team.

Adding to her new life, she never counted on meeting someone who wants her as badly as Kade Maxwell. The tall, sexy and drool-worthy bad boy has a magical touch that awakens her feminine side, and a kiss that slowly erases her nightmares. But getting involved with him may be dangerous when Kade’s arch-nemesis returns to town to settle a vendetta.

To complicate matters, her PTSD has taken a turn for the worse. She has to find a way to push away the demons otherwise she may not have a chance at anything in life.

Strong language. Sexual content. Intended for audiences 17 years and older.

He grinned with his infamous Maxwell smirk as he cupped my face.
I had barely caught my breath when his mouth was on me. I opened to him as his tongue dipped inside, twining with mine. He tasted like forever. I wiggled against his hardness, and he moaned. Abandoning my mouth, he trailed his lips along my jaw, my ear, and my neck. He licked over my racing pulse while the heat from his hands was scorching my back. His torment was too much, yet not enough. My clothes grew constrictive. I wanted to feel his bare skin against mine.

As if he sensed my need, he lifted my sweater over my head, throwing it to the floor. His eyes were seas of shimmering copper. The backs of his fingers ghosted up and over my abs to land on the clasp of my bra. For perhaps one second he hesitated before unsnapping it. When he did, I sucked in a breath, my nipples hardening. He removed one strap then the other before it fell behind me.

“Beautiful,” he breathed, as he traced the outline of my breasts, teasing, but never touching the sensitive peaks that ached for his magical fingers or even his mouth.

I pressed my hips into him, feeling his arousal. Desire swirled down my belly in a slow, sinuous slide.

He groaned, deep and sensual. “Baby, tell me what you want.”

My body tingled. My brain went blank. “You.” All I wanted to do right now was feel him and everything he had to offer.

His eyes widened with a savage intensity that frightened me, yet calmed me. He pressed a kiss to my breast, gliding his warm mouth over my nipple before sucking on it. I arched into him, rubbing against him. He moaned, giving my other breast the same attention.

I fisted my hands in his sweater, tugging it up. He eased back, raising his arms. I lifted his sweater and T-shirt over his head before tossing it aside. My gaze wandered over him, drinking in every muscled inch of him from the line of light brown hair that disappeared into his jeans, to the six-pack abs that sculpted his midsection, to the tattoos on his chest.

Pushing his fingers through my hair, he brushed his lips over mine. “Are you sure, Lace?” His voice was barely audible.
