About the book:

You first met Chad Rogers and Chloe Atwood in Florida Heat, now you get to read their story.

Old family ties broken, childhood pain healed and true love revealed—one step at a time.

One phone call sends Chad Rogers back to the one place he’s been avoiding—home. Being at his mother’s side after she is shot, he faces the younger brother who tormented him during childhood and his ex-lover, Chloe Atwood.

Chloe Atwood is engaged to a family friend. Chad Rogers steps back into her world, spinning it off its axis. She sees him in a new light this time around, leaving her to question if they can have a future together.

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT

“That’s what I thought. You won’t even notice I’m not by your side.” He lacked thoughtfulness, pushing her life to the side. “Why don’t we stop talking and start by taking a bath together.” A suggestive smile grew across his face.

“Andrew, I’m not in the mood.”

“I can change that.” He reached under the table, sliding a hand on her thigh.

“No, you can’t.” She jerked her leg, making his hand fall. She shoved a bite into her mouth. Her appetite lost, she took her plate to the kitchen. “I’d like you to be here to comfort me tonight. That’s it.” The plate sealed with plastic wrap, she placed it in the refrigerator.

“Come on, Chloe. We haven’t had sex in a week. Normally we romp three to four times in the week. What’s going on with you?” He joined her in the kitchen with his empty plate. “Are you seeing someone else?” He seized her arm.

She inhaled sharply, surprised by his action.

He yanked her to face him. “Is that why you were home late?” He released her arm.

“No! I’m not seeing anyone.” Her voice cracked, and she softened the tone.

He rested his hands on her hips. “You make me happy.” His hands slipped to her backside, grabbing her butt. “I worry you’ll meet someone.”

Not that she was seeing Chad on the side, but when she did, he stirred up old feeling. His kiss left her wanting more of him. But their time was up and over long ago.

“I was late because I was talking to Maggie.” Chloe broke from his hold and went to retrieve her glass of wine. His mood flipped as quickly as a coin toss at a Cowboys game. “We’re going dress shopping tomorrow.”

“For your wedding dress?” he asked with a genuine smile.

She rocked on her heels. “Yup.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t have eaten the Kung Pao. No more Oriental for you.” He feigned a laugh. “You need to fit in your dress.”

You ass.

“I didn’t eat much.” She knew better than to eat her favorite meal, much less with Andrew around. “I’ll eat lite tomorrow. Okay?” Two months ago he developed an interest in her weight. She’d catch him looking at thinner women. He’d make comments about women letting themselves get too big.

He slid his arms around her waist, bending to kiss her. “Okay. I like my women small. You know that.” He kissed her again, but with more force than before.
