Two star crossed lovers kept apart by a family feud are the central characters in Melissa Foster’s Destined for Love, the second book in her contemporary romance series, The Bradens.  Well developed characters, good dialogue and just the right amount of spicy romance kept me turning the pages to discover what would happen next.  While a part of a series, this book can be enjoyed completely on its own.

A hard working cowboy who’s kept the family ranch running successfully, Rex Braden has reached a crossroad in his life.  Tired of settling for part time relationships, Rex knows he wants something more – he just doesn’t know what that is until he runs into Jade Johnson, the girl who got away because of a family feud.  He just didn’t realize he’d have to choose between what his heart wants and his family.

Returning home after losing her vet practice and being stalked by an ex who doesn’t understand the meaning of the word no, Jade Johnson wants a chance to start over.  When her horse is injured and Rex Braden comes to her rescue, Jade realizes she can no longer deny the attraction between them.  She just didn’t plan on losing her heart.

The scenes between Rex and Jade are well written and lots of fun.  They have great verbal and physical chemistry.  Ms. Foster does a good job developing their characters; both are hard working, loyal and deeply devoted to their families.  They also know the relationship growing between them is mean to be.  They’ll have to take a united stand against their family’s ridiculous feud.

The secondary characters are also well written and I enjoyed getting to know the Bradens better.  I also enjoyed meeting Jade’s family, especially her dad, Earl.  We also get to meet Rex’s horse, Hope, who’s been a "member" of Rex’s family for a while, and who plays an important part in Rex and Jade’s relationship.

Will Rex and Jade have what it takes to make their relationship work?  Will the love between them be enough to become a bridge between their families?  You’ll have to read Destined for Love to find out, I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more of Ms. Foster’s work.
