About the book:

Lacy Snow wasn’t looking for love when she met strikingly handsome and seductive Dane Braden. But how could she ignore the six-foot-three darkly handsome god who tagged and researched sharks for a living—and made every nerve in her body tangle into an overly sensitive knot? Even her fear of sharks could not suppress their intense attraction.

As founder of the Brave Foundation, Dane Braden travels from port to port, educating and advocating on behalf of the mammals he adores—and spends his nights finding solace in the arms of strangers. The last thing Dane was looking for when he met Lacy Snow was a relationship, and the last thing he expected was to fall in love.

Fifteen months—and hundreds of flirty emails, steamy phone calls, and sensual video chats—later, they reunite and take passion to a whole new level. But as Lacy’s phobia meets Dane’s past love life, their steamy romance is upended, and when tragedy strikes, Dane and Lacy are forced to face their deepest fears head-on as they try to navigate their own sea of love.

A contemporary romance between a shark tagger and a marketing representative dedicated to her job, Sea of Love by Melissa Foster reintroduces Dane Braden and Lacey Snow, who originally met in one of Ms. Foster’s previous books, Sister’s in White.  Well developed characters, good dialogue and a slowly developed romance kept me turning the pages to discover what would happen next.  While the fourth book in the Braden’s series, and the 7th book in the Love in Bloom series, this book can be enjoyed on its own.

Kept apart for 15 months by their conflicting schedules, shark authority and tagger, Dane Braden, and Lacey Snow meet in person at one of Dane’s brother’s weddings.  After months of emails and Skype conversations, they are both looking forward to seeing if the instant attraction that blossomed between them at Lacey’s sister’s weddings will actually turn into something more.  Especially since neither one knows exactly what kind of relationship they want.

A man who lives on a boat in the sea, and goes from port to port, with lovely women at every port, Dane knows he wants more than just a “friends with benefits” relationship with Lacey.  He just doesn’t know if he’s capable of making the kind of sacrifices a real relationship will require.  Ms. Foster does a good job developing Dane’s character; he and Lacey have had time to get to know the real person without the trappings of a sexual relationship getting in the way. They are each other’s best friend and Dane doesn't really know if taking their relationship further will damage what they have.  Dane also knows his job, and passion for saving sharks is dangerous and brings its own baggage to the relationship.

Dedicated to her career, and working extra hard to get a promotion, Lacey knows she desires Dane on both a physical and emotional level.  She just isn’t sure she can deal with his job and passion for sharks, especially since she had a bad encounter with one when she was younger.  Ms. Foster also does a good job developing Lacey; she’s realistic about what a relationship with one of the Alpha type Braden men will require and she’s not sure she’s willing to throw everything she’s ever worked for aside.  I liked the fact that Lacey wanted to do what was right for both of them; she knew her fear of sharks would be problematic for Dane and also knew she wouldn’t be able to keep it from him.  I also liked that she was willing to fight for what she wanted in their relationship, she wanted the kind of love and commitment her sister’s have with their spouses.

Will Lacey and Dane find a way to work out a real relationship that is more than “friends with benefits”?   Will Lacey ever get over her fear of dealing with sharks enough to want to follow Dane wherever his job takes him?  You’ll have to read Sea of Love to find out.  I enjoyed this addition to the series and look forward to reading the next book in the series, featuring Savannah Braden, when it comes out.
