Interview with Sunny Black, and excerpt from “Last Call.” By Alannah Lynne

Thanks so much for hosting me on Queen of the Night Reviews. Sunny and I appreciate the opportunity to share with your readers a little bit of “Last Call,” the second book in my Heat Wave series. Sunny’s also agreed to do a brief interview on a subject that is close to her and Gavin’s heart… her erotic nipple necklaces.

Alannah Lynne: Hi Sunny, thanks for doing this interview with me.
Sunny: *pulls Dum-Dum out of her mouth and licks her lips* Sure thing.
Alannah Lynne: When I asked my readers what they would like me to ask you, they wanted to know more about your nipple necklaces. Can you tell me why you started wearing them? And how they ended up becoming your trademark, of sorts?
Sunny: I tended bar in Myrtle Beach with a girl who waited tables part time and stripped part time. She wore nipple necklaces as part of her act, and I thought they were really cool. Since I spent my entire life being an adult, with no social life and no boyfriends to speak of, I liked the idea of wearing something that made me feel sexy and a little naughty, even though I wasn’t.
Alannah Lynne: So you’d been wearing them for quite a while before Gavin came onto the scene.
Sunny: Oh yeah, a couple of years. I didn’t wear them every night. Just on nights when I wanted to… *shrugs and looks away* I don’t know, feel sexy. You know? Rather than just tending bar and being a surrogate mom, I wanted to feel like a desirable woman. And the necklaces made me feel that way.
Alannah Lynne: Was Gavin right, did you have to fight men off every night?
Sunny: *rolls her eyes and laughs* You’ve been to Anticue, right? You’ve seen my nightly clientele? During the summer months, when we had out-of-towners, I’d get a few looks sometimes. But it definitely wasn’t a nightly thing. And I didn’t wear them for the outward attention, I wore them for the way they made me feel inside. *ornery grin crosses her face* Although, seeing Gavin’s reaction that night, when he first noticed it… *giggles* That was cool.
Alannah Lynne: It might’ve started off cool, but it got hot pretty damned fast. How about if we leave the readers with a snippet from that night. From your first kiss?
Sunny: *shivers a little* You know how much I love Gavin’s kisses. Works for me.

Excerpt from LAST CALL (Book #2 Heat Wave Series)
Gavin’s smile was warm, his eyes soft and caring. “You’ve been taking care of everyone else all evening. Let me take care of you for a while.”
He turned around and studied the liquor bottles, then the glasses, and finally the beer cooler. “I have a ton of experience with drinking, but none with mixing. Give me some direction.” He turned back around to face her. “What’s your favorite drink?”
Even though he probably considered this part of the foreplay, she found the gesture incredibly sweet, and emotion clogged her throat. She’d never had a nice, slow buildup. All of her previous experience fell under basic, boring sex.
He stared into her eyes, as if trying to see inside her head. “You don’t strike me as a Cosmo girl.”
She laughed. “God, no.”
“Tequila? Jack?” He quirked an eyebrow and grinned. “A girl after my own heart… Crown Royal?”
Intending to playfully push him away, she pressed her palms against the hard wall of his chest and gave a slight shove. He didn’t budge. But his heartbeat pounding against her open hand and his body heat seeping into her palms caused the playfulness to evaporate into a sharp, painful jolt of need.
Relaxing her elbows, she allowed her body to fall close to his. In a voice barely above a whisper, she said, “My personal favorite is a french kiss.”
His gaze dropped to her mouth, and, fueled by the fire she saw in his eyes, she flicked her tongue over her top lip, then drug it along her lower. Knowing her action had been strictly for his pleasure, his lids dropped to half-mast, and he smiled appreciatively.
With agonizingly slow movements, he stepped between her knees, took her face in his large palms, and dipped his head. With his mouth inches from hers, he whispered, “You don’t mean the kind in a glass, do you?”
She shook her head, then closed her eyes and felt. Felt his warm breath against her mouth, his rough palms against her face, and his solid thighs against her softer ones. A viscous wave of need washed through her, and she found it difficult to make her voice work. “I love kisses. French and otherwise. In fact, I love kisses as much sex.”
He drew back, horrified. “You’ve either been with some outstanding kissers, or lousy lovers.” He leaned back in. “Which is it?”
Since she could count her lovers on one hand, not including the thumb, she couldn’t say for sure. But she refused to admit that. Knowing she hadn’t had sex in three years was bad enough. If he knew the full extent of her inexperience, he might wonder what was wrong with her.
She ignored the question and concentrated on his mouth, which was so close she could see the soft lines in his lower lip. Yet, he might as well have been a block away for all the good it did. Trying to close the scant distance between them, she gripped his forearms and tugged. He didn’t move, and her desperation twisted into a tight coil in her gut.
“Patience, Sunny.” His eyes were full of heat and promise, his voice a husky murmur. “We’ll never have another first kiss. Don’t rush it.”
Unable to form an intelligent thought, let alone speak, Sunny stared into his eyes and willed him to move faster. She held her breath and let her eyelids drift shut as he eased closer and kissed the corner of her eye, then her temple, then her ear.
His hand slipped to the back of her head and held her in place as his lips made a slow excursion along her jawline and ended at the corner of her mouth.
His tongue stroked the crease of her lips, and she opened to him with a sigh. She could tell he was smiling, taking pleasure in teasing her. He didn’t make her wait long, though, before he treated her with full mouth-to-oh-what-an-amazing-mouth contact.
Slow, rhythmic thrusts of his tongue kicked her base instincts into gear, and she wiggled closer to the edge of the counter, seeking a different kind of thrusting penetration. His tongue swept across the roof her mouth in a gentle caress, then slid over her teeth. He nipped at her lip, then worked the sting away with a slow, slick glide.
Good grief, Gavin didn’t kiss. He made love with his tongue and mouth. Within seconds, she was trembling and rubber-legged and grateful to be sitting. Otherwise, she'd be a glob of goo, sliding onto the floor. When he broke the kiss for a breath, she said, “If you were trying to convince me kissing isn’t as good as sex, you’re doing a poor job.”
The hand on the back of her head slid to the nape of her neck, while the other trailed over her shoulder and down her arm. He laced their fingers together and pressed his palm to hers. “What are my chances for proving that was nothing compared to great sex?”
She gulped, then went with the truth. “You’ve never had a better chance.”

Sunny wants to give away a copy of “Last Call,” but she’s going to make you work for it. She wants to hear about a piece of jewelry or clothing that you wear that makes you feel really sexy. Something that you know, when you walk out the door wearing it, every man you meet is going to turn his head and look at you. Something that makes you feel like a Queen of the Night.

Heat Wave, Book 2

Gavin McLeod is a man who has it all. His corporate climb has positioned him as the next CEO at Holden Enterprises. He’s financially stable, allowing him to provide for the grandfather who raised him, and his successful seduction of the sexy bartender last night proves his private life is also on fire. Until the alluring woman in his arms turns out to be a serious road-block to his future. One that could bring everything he's worked for crashing down around him.

Sunny Black has spent her entire life tending to the needs of others, caring for her younger brother since she was ten, and serving bar patrons night after night. For the first time in years, she thinks of herself and gives in to her body’s demands, taking a trip to the wild side with a customer whose raw sexuality is too strong to deny. The next morning, however, she learns that in addition to rocking her world, the stranger might cause it to crumble.

A game of sexual seduction and corporate chess ensues, with neither Gavin nor Sunny realizing the ending could come in the form of a permanent check-mate.

  1. That first kiss is always so...*sigh*. Thanks for answering my question about the nipple necklace :)
My waist length red hair and high heeled shoes make me feel sexy. ♥

  2. Based on your profile pictures, I'd agree about your hair. It's beautiful! High heels make me feel sexy, too... for about the first 5 minutes. It's really hard to look sexy and attractive when you're limping and whining because your feet hurt. :D

  3. i'm still a bit confused about the nipple necklace. Isn't there some contradiction of terms of some there... never mind... If I want to feel sexy, I'll go with really high FM heels and a really short shirt dress, the one with side slits ;)

Hmmm... maybe I should find some places for me and Hubs to go so I can dress up sometime! So many great ideas from you guys!

  7. I had to sit and think about this... and I come up with nothing! Heck, I can't even remember the last time I wore something specifically to feel sexy. Yikes!! Time flies when you don't realize it. But I've always had an affinity for shoes and things that lace up, so I would say that. And a new haircut/style always helps oodles!

This book sounds great and I can't wait to read it!

    1. Hi Ashley!

I'm glad you enjoyed the excerpt!! I know guys like long hair, but when mine gets long I always feel like it gets frizzy and looks bad. Therefore, I let it get half way down my back, and then cut it off. I wish I felt good about it and could keep it long. I'm envious of those of you who have long hair. :)

  11. I think the combination of things that make me feel sexy are my black lace trimmed vee necked top, paired with my two inch wide black lace chocker, with a tiny deep red silk rose right in the middle. Worn with a black skirt or black straight leg jeans and boots.

    1. I think feeling confident is one of the sexiest things a woman can do. And I've often heard men say the same thing. Wearing your "naughty secret" probably puts an extra sway in your step, on top of the red shoes. I bet you ooze sexy!
