Happy Birthday week!!
ReplyDeleteI remember that my Mom always made a "special" birthday cake for us each year on our birthday. She would make our favorite breakfast, always added a special treat and note in our lunch boxes and then we always went to the cafe/diner she worked at to have dinner with her. She worked nights and Dad worked days and he always made sure that we got to celebrate with Mom in the evenings when she wasn't home!
Happy Birthday!!! My papaw's birthday was around this time * misses him* and my oldest son's is the 25.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you remember most about celebrating your birthday as a kid?
The picnic that mom and mamaw always planned out. It was always at my grandparents. Cousins and my uncles showed up and my mom's cousin Paula. There was always good humble food, presents, and either mamaw or mom or both made my cake.
Hehe, I remember being so young (and I seen the picture) where they bought a special Strawberry Shortcake thing for my cake.
Whoo Hoo!!! Happy Birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember just having a great time with friends, being the center of attention, and cake and ice cream. Oh, did I forget to mention balloons. That always makes the celebration fun and lively. But really, its family and friends getting together. Only just to administer the right number of spanks.
Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memory was when I ten, and I was surprised with a weekend at Disneyland. It was my first visit ever, and I got to invite my best friend to go with me. What a blast it was, we had so much fun.

ReplyDeleteMy birthday is also this week :)
My dad used to bring in birthday cake and pop to school for my whole class to celebrate my birthday and the end of the school year. The teacher would make a day of it and we'd play party games all day.

I remember how when I was really young my mom always tried to make it special for us. We would get dressed up and have a party.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is the day before Halloween. So my Mom made sure to make my birthday a complete different celebration than Trick-or-Treat. And I use to get a big ol' bouquet of balloons.
ReplyDeleteWow... that was a long time ago!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Please count me in!

We always got a special cake for our birthdays--whipped cream frosting, and usually with a fruit filling. Mmm.... ;) I guess you never forget a good cake :D
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to you, Maria!! And many happy returns!

My mom always make me a special birthday cake and homemade ice cream. My birthday is in August so the ice cream was really good
ReplyDeleteI remember going to my Grandmother's and all of the family being there for a big birthday dinner.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say all of my birthdays were pretty special when I was a kid. Mom always asked where I wanted to go for dinner and what I wanted for dessert. Even if it was McD's, she would eat there just to make me happy. It was like that with my sis too. She always made us feel special when our birthday comes around and she still does. We always pick somewhere to eat or if we want her to cook, she will even do that. Also, we have our choice of birthday dessert. Mostly, I just like spending time with my family. :)
ReplyDeleteOooo phooey... I hit comment too quick.. wanted to say also, Happy Birthday Maria!! :) May you have a fabulous day and many more to come. :)
