My Review:
This is the first book that I've read by Ms. Thomas and I really enjoyed it. The elements of the story were well done, the dialogue was modern and the romance had just enough steam to keep you interested and turning the pages.
The character of Valerie Valenti was very interesting, she's a divorced woman who has a teenage daughter. She runs a catering service with her friend Jessica. Valerie is the cook/baker in the service and is determined to succeed in business so that she can take care of her daughter and herself. She's also been having some fairly explicit erotic dreams at night about the same man, someone she doesn't know. She's lonely and wonders if she will ever find love again.
The character of Ross Hanley is one of a man who has been burned by romance. He's divorced from a woman who clearly only wanted his money and who cost him a small fortune. He's also lonely and has been spending his time with some socialites but he realizes that none of them would be a good match for him. He's been channeling all of his energy into his work as the CEO of a manufacturing company. He's also been having erotic dreams at night about a red-headed woman.
Valerie and Ross meet due to their businesses. She is wanting his company to hire her catering service for business functions and his company is looking for a caterer. When they meet it's with a sense of deja vu'. The question then becomes is their mutual attraction caused by their dreams or are the dreams some sort of paranormal situation drawing them together.
Valerie and Ross both have good outlooks on life, even if they occasionally look at the glass as half empty instead of half full. The author's sense of humor is also present in the story and in some of the circumstances that bring Valerie and Ross closer.
I don't want to give away any spoilers of the book but I will say that there is a happy ending and that I was very satisfied with the story overall.
My Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
