Bad Alpha & Shapeshifters  by Amber Morgan

For me, when it comes to shapeshifters, there's really only one. I mean, I love a good werecat or werebear story, but my heart forever belongs to the king of the shifters – the werewolf. From the Greek king Lycaon to modern interpretations like Teen Wolf, the werewolf has been a part of our myths, legends, and pop culture forever! So maybe it was only natural, when I saw the call for the Bad Alpha anthology, that my imagination went straight to wolves.

I've written my share of werewolf stories under my real name (Naomi Clark), but I saw this story as a chance to go in a different direction, using the shelter of my pen name to protect me! And obviously EXILED ALPHA was a story that wanted to be told – I wrote ten thousand words in two frantic, blurred days, a record for me! This is a grittier, darker romance than I've written before, with an anti-hero who really is the kind of man your mother warned you about (and that's before we get into the fact that he's a werewolf!). So what is it about bad boys and werewolves that combines so perfectly for me?

It's that primal, animal side. It's that blend of predator instinct and human intelligence, melding together to make the perfect shades-of-grey hero – one who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to get down and dirty to get it. And my anti-hero, Arkady Gusev, definitely isn't afraid to fight dirty to get what he wants, whether it's victory over another wolf, or the heart and body of his mate.

I can't wait for you guys to meet Arkady and Rachel, the she-wolf who might just capture his stone-cold heart – so here's a quick sneak preview!

Excerpt

He held her gaze and saw both fear and determination in her gray eyes. That was intriguing. Fear he was used to, from men and women. The spark of stubbornness though...He didn't think Genie had brought her here for sex. Which was a shame, because his cock throbbed and he could think of nothing better than burying it deep in this girl's cunt. He couldn't remember the last time he'd felt such a primal lust for a woman. His wolf was practically salivating.

"I'm not here to be pussy for you," she told him.

Arkady grinned. Oh, she was a fucking delight already. "You can go," he told Genie.

She looked hesitant, but obeyed, because of course she did. Genie was a good girl.

This new girl didn't look good. And that was very exciting.

He stretched his legs out under his desk and folded his arms across his chest. "So what are you here for?" he asked her.

She looked him over, pursing her lips. "You don't remember me, do you?"

"You'll have to excuse me, sweetheart, but a woman's face isn't usually the part of her body I pay attention to." Not that he'd forget hers, he was pretty sure of that. Especially when she glared like that. It was pretty hot.

“Tiger’s Mate” by April Zyon:  Streak politics, and differences in opinions forced Kurt Owens to choose his own path. While it may be outside of the law in many regards he sees it as ensuring justice for the true victims of crimes when the system fails them. It’s his way of seeing the guilty pay, and keeping his own inner beast in check with the violence, and blood it craves.

Everyone thinks having a super power would be great. Alexa Harold would beg to differ. She’s been cursed to see ghosts, the dead not yet having gone to their final resting place, or judgment, or wherever they belong. They track her down, and harass her until she’s ready to go mad. Learning early in life what she needs to avoid has been the only saving grace in keeping her sanity intact.

Then she sees a man who couldn’t possibly be real. It was just her luck that such a prime specimen would in fact be deceased. Only he isn’t, and he’s taking notice of her. With a little temptation, some mystery, and a taunt he leaves her wanting more.

Kurt never thought he’d find his mate outside of the streak, or streak functions. While those of a supernatural inclination aren’t exactly rare, they have had to be careful and keep their population down. Alexa is the woman for him the only one he could ever want or need. And when her life is put in danger by his own past Kurt won’t stop until everyone understands to get to this tiger’s mate, they’ll have to get through him.
