Going Indie and the Future of the
 Diablo Blanco Club Series.

My choice to venture into self-publishing was based on curiosity to see if it had changed any with the addition of e-books to the mix. In 2000, a friend of mine and I wrote a book together and published it through iUniverse. Don’t ask the title, we requested the book be removed from the catalog a long time ago so it won’t be seeing the light of day any time soon. But that experience had been in the back of my mind for a very long time and when the opportunity to self-publish e-books arose, I had to take a look.

The decision to try self-publishing came from the need to see what it felt like to have complete control over my stories. From cover to final product everything fell to me to be done, and while it was a daunting task, especially in the beginning, it’s increased my self-confidence. I know now that I have it in me to do what needs to be done to take a story from idea to publishable format and be proud to have my name associated with it.

Along with that learning experience, it’s also given be a greater appreciation for the services provided when working with a publisher. Editing, cover design, formatting, distribution, and marketing are much more than words to me now and I recognize how important all of those skills are more now than ever before.

I enjoy creating my worlds and playing with my characters. The future of the Diablo Blanco Club is connected to my venture into indie publishing, mainly because it was the first series of books I wrote and received the rights back on from my publisher when I decided to try doing everything myself. There are, based on what the characters have told me, four more books to be written—Rick Bennett’s, Case Henderson’s, David Henderson’s, and a second book for Ben Murphy and Vance Justiss. After that the club and its member will be referred to and possibly revisited. There are other clubs and characters I want to play with and who are asking for their turn to be heard.

In the same way that I don’t see myself going exclusively to self-publishing, because I enjoy the support of the publisher I’m with now, I also don’t see myself leaving the world of the Diablo Blanco Club permanently. The characters are too compelling and have created a world I enjoy exploring, so I’m sure they’ll be around as long as I will. As long as the readers keep reading them.

What's a Dom to do when the submissive he wants runs from the feelings between them?

From the moment he met Lyssa Lawrence, Mike Halsey knew what he felt was love -- not lust. Convincing her has been an uphill battle even after the two steamy hours they'd shared at the Diablo Blanco Club four years earlier.

Lyssa Lawrence wished the man who claimed to love her wasn't so damned appealing. Eight years of denying the pull of her submissive nature almost went up in smoke four years ago, but she'd gathered the nerve to tell him 'no' when he asked for more. She'd have stayed away for good if her biological clock hadn't hiccuped, threatening her dreams of motherhood.

In the same way she'd strategized her success in fashion design, Lyssa worked out a plan to get the baby she wanted. The Diablo Blanco Club's annual Midnight Masquerade would provide a number of potential donors to choose from. What she hadn't bargained on was Mike's interference through an arcane Club rule.

When Mike invoked Rite of First Claim, Lyssa finally became his. Now, he has one month to prove that the role of his submissive was one she was born to play.

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: BDSM theme and elements.

Every Santa needs an Elf, and Dayton Kringle is no exception. His offer for a temporary affair, just long enough to get from Christmas Eve to New Year's, will satisfy a four-year craving.

His is a simple design:

One beautiful Elf
Twelve sexy gifts
A little spanking
Some light bondage

And ten days of no-strings sex

make one very satisfied Santa. But when the ten days are up, will he be able to give up the Elf of his wildest Dominant dreams?

RITE OF FIRST CLAIM

Excerpt:

The majority of the guests were dressed in evening gowns or tuxedos. The only ones in costume, like her, were submissives—both those owned and those looking for owners. Scanning the faces, she identified several of her potential donors, but she was careful not to stare at them in a way that might arouse unease or make them leery of her approach. She ignored the tiny pain that twisted her heart when Mike wasn’t among the guests. Forget the fantasy and face reality, Lyssa.

“Smile. We aren’t that scary,” David whispered, his warm breath stirring the hair of her auburn wig over her ear.

A tingle slid up Lyssa’s spine.

“You’ve been here often enough to know we don’t bite.” A wicked grin lifted his lips. “Well, not unless you ask us to.”

Lyssa smiled and shook her head at his jest. “And just how do you know how many times I’ve been here before?”

David reached up and rubbed a curl from her wig between his fingers. “You might be in costume, but I’ve seen you visit a few times with Vance and Ben.”

She met his gaze, trying to read his intent. His capricious eyes gave nothing away. Another tremor worked through her at the thought that this man would never allow another person to guess what he was thinking. Good information to have if she hoped for events to proceed as planned. Especially if she chose him this evening.

  3. You know, you usually don't see authors who self publish and have a publisher. Most people are on the polar opposites of the debate. I like that you're flexable and do both!

    1. Andra,
I think the initial venture into self-publishing was a lesson learned of what I didn't want to do, but after having been published with Loose Id and learning what I have from them, I can better appreciate the benefits of a publisher at the same time I can take a step out with projects that are dear to my heart. Besides, I've always been a bit of a control freak. LOL
      Thanks for stopping by.

  6. I love this series. I know you're having trouble writing Rick and Becca's story, but I look forward to reading it (hopefully) soon. I thought I read somewhere that you were going to write a historical about Bryce and Mike's parents/grandparents. Is that idea still on the table?
I'm especially waiting for Case's story to answer some questions from "Santa's Elf".

    1. I appreciate all the support, Becki, you don't know how much I truly appreciate it. Quick update...Rick and Becka are about 60% done, 71,000 words so far. As for Case, yes, his story will be next in line (after some work on the Poker Posse) once I get Rick and Becka out. And yes, Cole and Margaretta Halsey (the founding couple of the Diablo Blanco Club) will eventually have a book--don't know how long it'll be or when I'll get it done, but I have to do a bit of research on the War of 1812, privateer ships and sailing around the Horn (I think that's what they called the tip of South America)...as well as pre-territory California.
See, my characters are keeping me very very busy!
      Thanks for stopping by today!

Just so you know, I've been getting a little work done on the next in the Poker Posse series as well, but it's taking a back seat to Rick and Becka...they've been waiting three years for their story. Thank you for stopping by and showing your support. As soon as I have any updates I'll let you know!

    1. Pam, I promise you, I'm just as desperate for the next book as well...fortunately, the characters are cooperating (for the most part) and I'm about 2/3 of the way through the rough draft. Once I have that in the bag, it'll be fast work through edits, polishing, and publishing it (since I'm going indie on this one.)
Thank you for being so patient. Have a fantastic weekend!!
