My ReviewA baseball player trying to make amends to his brother, a real estate broker trying to establish her agency in the market, and her four older brothers take center stage in Elley Argen’s Change My Mind, the second book in her Kemmon’s Brothers Baseball series. Well developed characters, fast paced dialogue, a spicy, sexy romance and a house renovation that reminded me of “The Money Pit”, kept me turning the pages to discover what was going to happen next. While a part of a series, this book can be enjoyed on its own.Determined to make amends to his older brother, second baseman Grey Kemmons finds himself renovating “Castle Chaos”, a million dollar home previously owned by his deceased father. A truly ugly house, “Castle Chaos” is a glaring reminder of their father’s betrayal and Grey’s failure to take good advice from his brother. When his father’s dogs run away and get rescued by a real estate broker, Grey finds more than just an agent to help him unload the house.Rescuing two stray dogs, real estate broker Nel Parker can’t believe her good fortune when she discovers their owner also owns “Castle Chaos”... At least that’s what she thinks until she sees the inside of the house. After promising to help renovate and then sell it for a million dollars, Nel discovers there’s more to the owner than just a big house and two loveable dogs. The scenes between Nel and Grey are well written, have good dialogue and just the right touch of smoking chemistry. While raised in completely different emotional and economical backgrounds, Nel and Grey both have issues with trust, are self reliant and somewhat stubborn. They’re also attracted to each other but determined to keep things casual and physical only. Neither one wants to risk a broken heart. Ms. Arden does a good job developing both the emotional and physical aspects of their relationship. The secondary characters are also well developed and added a nice touch. I especially liked Nel’s best friend and secretary, Re, and her four brothers. I also enjoyed getting to know what’s going on with Jordon and Maggie, Grey’s older brother and sister in law, who we got to know in Save My Soul, the first book in the series. Will Nel, Grey, and the rest of their “work crew” finish the renovations and sell “Castle Chaos” for a million dollars? Will Nel and Grey realize there’s nothing casual about their relationship and let their relationship develop into something permanent? You’ll have to read Change My Mind to find out. I enjoyed this addition to the series and can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
