30 DAYS
Christine d'Abo
Releasing July 28th, 2015
Kensington

For years, Alyssa has been going to bed with a memory. Is she ready to wake up with a fantasy?

Some people wait their whole lives to find their soul mate, but not Alyssa Barrow. She met Rob at sixteen, and they were set to live happily ever after—until he became ill. In his final days, Rob urged his beautiful, young wife not to abandon happiness—or pleasure. He even left her a special gift, a sexy game plan to help her move on: Thirty cards with instructions for thirty days of passion. You’ll know when the time is right, he’d said. Now it’s two years later, and when Alyssa meets her hot new neighbor, Harrison Kemp, she begins to think the right time is right now…

From his sculpted thighs to his devilish grin, Harrison is the kind of man women want. Before she can lose her nerve, Alyssa tells Harrison about her long-ignored cards…and asks him to help her fulfill them. It’s a favor he’s more than happy to, um, perform. With his skillful touch, and the hot press of his lips against her skin, Alyssa finds herself re-awakening to life—and a host of other sensations. But what began as not-so-innocent fun soon grows into true intimacy, and Alyssa realizes she’s opening herself up not just to sex…but to love. When it comes to a future with Harrison, what’s really in the cards?

Saucy, heartwarming, and insightful, 30 Days explores the agony—and the ecstasy—of starting over, and how a little encouragement, and a little courage, can go a long way…

I huffed, then licked my lips before I finally slipped my finger beneath the edge and tore the paper open.

Hidden inside was a single piece of paper wrapped around a bundle of index cards. I ignored the cards for the time being and spread open the paper. I took a moment before I could read the note. This was something new from Rob and my heart broke a little bit more. Those invisible fingers squeezed at my chest.

Alyssa.

I love you. I know you love me. I’m glad you’re ready to move on and start having some fun once again. I also know you well enough to realize you’ll only go so far before you stop. Don’t do that. And for God’s sake, don’t get into a serious relationship right away either. I always thought you hadn’t taken enough time to figure out who you were as a person before we hooked up. We jumped into being a couple and lucky for us we worked and it was awesome.

You always said you never regretted being with me so young, but you also didn’t date anyone else. You didn’t sleep with anyone else. I took that experience from you and I always hated that you didn’t get to explore. I wanted to give you my permission to go out there and experiment. Have fun. Fool around and don’t feel the least bit guilty about it.

I thought I might also offer you some suggestions on how to get started.

Humor me, okay.

I’ve had a lot of time on my hands recently. When you weren’t here, I started this little project. I call it Alyssa’s 30 Days of Sex. Please don’t have sex thirty days in a row because I’ll be jealous. Not really. If you can do that, go for it. Seriously though, jealous.

Anyway, even if you don’t use any of these cards, I had a lot of fun imagining you enacting them. You’ll read them and think OMG boy dreams! That’s cool. They are. Change them up if you want.

Even when you weren’t with me, you made me happy. I’m going to stop now before I get sappy.

Go get laid and enjoy the kinky sex.

Love you, baby.

Rob

I laughed. It was such a Rob thing to have done. I had no difficulty picturing him coming up with ideas for his cards while going through his chemo. Come to think of it, that explained most of the Internet pop-ups I’d been forced to clean off his laptop after he passed.

Sex cards. He wrote me freaking sex cards. I fell in love with him all over again. My best friend and lover was giving me advice on how to hook up with other people from beyond the grave. The idea was a mix of weird and sweet, the perfect descriptor for him.

Elias and I grabbed our drinks and joined our friends. Rick pulled me to his side right away, so I had to squeeze into a tiny corner beside him. But I didn’t mind. I enjoyed my friends’ company and even Rick’s flirting attempts didn’t stop me from having fun. Even more, his terrible pick-up lines soon had me doubled over with laughter, and took my mind off Parker, if only for a few minutes. I tried to prove to Rick that he could win over a girl even with less corny lines, but Rick wouldn’t be Rick if he didn’t disagree.
“Wanna bet?” he challenged me. I looked at him with interest and instantly agreed.
“Hell, yeah!”
“Pick a girl, any girl,” he said cockily. “I guarantee you, I’ll get her number.” I looked around the club, my eyes settled on a gorgeous woman, leaning on the table next to ours. She was playing idly with the cocktail pick in her drink. She appeared slightly older than us, no more than 10 years, and I was certain she’d be an even bigger challenge since she’d probably heard all the corny pick-up lines before.
“Her.” I pointed my finger. Rick’s gaze traveled up her long, shapely legs, small waist and generously sized chest. He smirked at me, saying, “She’s smoking hot. You’ve got yourself a bet.” We shook hands, and as he took two steps toward her, I remembered we hadn’t talked about the terms of our bet.
“Hey, wait,” I yelled at his retreating back.
He jerked around. “What? Did you change your mind? You’d rather have me all to yourself?” His eyebrow shot up.
Rolling my eyes, I chuckled, and our friends laughed right along with me. “We haven’t said anything about the rewards. What do I get when I win?” I challenged him with a wide grin.
“Dream on, kitten. Before you can blink three times, I’ll have her eating out of my hand.”
I laughed so hard tears filled my eyes. “We’ll see about that.”
Rick confidently strutted over to the woman at the next table, and we all turned heads after them, and perked up our ears so we could hear the conversation.
“Hey, sugar,” Rick winked at the woman, who gave him a look from under her eyebrows.
“Uh-huh,” she muttered, uninterested.
“Do you know how to work with a sandpaper?” he shot out, and our table exploded in laughter.
“If she doesn’t slap him right now, then the world might just as well end,” I said.
The woman frowned at him. She asked him what he meant by that, and Rick replied.
“Because I could use someone to rub my wood.”
“Oh, god, he did not just say that,” Jon clamped a hand over his mouth. “I can’t believe he just said that.” He shook his head incredulously. But to our surprise, the woman started laughing. Out loud. When she finally calmed down, she put her hand on his shoulder.
“I’ve had a shitty day, and you just made it better. Thank you for that. Come, let me buy you a drink.” Rick turned to us with a wide grin on his face, and flipped us the bird before disappearing in the crowd with the woman on his arm.
“What the hell just happened?”
“That was pure luck,” Carmen, one of our classmates, said. I was completely shocked. I couldn’t believe she fell for such an awful, cliché pick up line.
Five minutes later, Rick returned to the table, a scrap of paper between his index and middle finger. He threw it on the table, a smug expression on his face, and turned to me.
“You were saying earlier?”

“So who'll give us the best show?”

I turned away from James, arched my face into his friend's neck to speak. “Krissy has a great trick she saves for birthdays and bachelors: lighting her nipples on fire. She and Tori are both beltwhippers, too. That's always a laugh. Tori's got a nasty mouth on her, if you want to humiliate him a little. How much do you want to piss him off?” I pulled back and grinned.

“You got any tricks?” He raised an eyebrow. I winked at him, but bachelor parties had never been my thing.

“Oh, honey,” I leaned in close. “My best shows aren't onstage.” Another friend tapped him on the shoulder, and I looked up.

Now I realized why that bachelor looked so familiar, with his brother staring me in the face.

“Lani?”

I fled the stage.

Once Upon a Time never felt like this…

Amy is committed to her career, but when her old college roommate gets in touch, Amy realizes her success has come with a price: she gave up more than her dreams of being an artist when she graduated from college.

Sean hasn’t written his own music since he saw the power his lyrics could have, but that doesn’t stop him from playing covers and trying to have a little fun with every woman he meets.

When Amy gets under his skin, however, Sean starts to wonder if a random hook up could become something more.

CUTTING LOOSE is a contemporary romance inspired by Rapunzel, and it's the second book in the Once Upon a Desire series.

Once Upon a Desire: contemporary fairy tales with a pinch of spice.

Amy wandered away from the crowd and stared at the placid waters of the lake. Stooping down, she found a small, oval pinecone on the ground at her feet, and giving into instinct, she pulled her arm back and flicked the cone into the water, trying to make it skip.

“Need a stone for that,” Sean said from behind her. Amy repressed a delicious shiver at the sound of his voice.

“I figured. It just seemed like the thing to do.” She gestured out at the water. “It’s beautiful up here.”

He raised an eyebrow at her. “Even though it’s the back end of beyond?”

“Your words, not mine.” She paused. “And I’m not judging anyone,” she finally added, glancing up at him. “Well, except maybe you.”

He grinned at her. “I guess I deserved that.”

She nodded. “Just because I’m from the city—“ she took a deep breath. “I don’t want to spoil this.” She gestured out to the lake, hoping he’d understand that she was done bantering. “Any of it,” she added, risking a glance at his face, but his expression was unreadable.

After a beat, Sean started to walk along the lakeshore, further away from the party guests, and after a moment, Amy fell into step beside him. “It is pretty, I guess,” he admitted.
“You forget how beautiful things are when you see them every day.” He glanced at her with a wide smile. “Although I doubt any guy would be able to forget you.”

Amy laughed, but her heart sped up. “Smooth.”

Sean tipped his head. “I try.”

They lapsed into easy silence as they moved along the lakeshore, and after a few minutes, Sean reached for her hand. Waiting for the flirty banter that Amy had started to expect from him, she hesitated, but Sean didn’t say anything, and Amy couldn’t shake the feeling as she laced her fingers through his that something had shifted somehow, without her being aware of it.

Walking hand in hand with him, Amy searched for something to say. “I can’t figure you out,” she finally offered.

Sean lifted his shoulders in a gentle shrug. “What’s to figure?”

“Are you really as full of yourself as you seem?” The words sounded harsh, and Amy tried to soften them. “I mean, one minute, you’re coming onto me, and the next, you’re—well, you’re confusing.”

A smile tugged at his lips. “So you’ve been thinking about me?” He tightened his fingers around hers.

Amy flushed. “Maybe a little,” she admitted, “but that’s just because I don’t know what’s going to come out of your mouth next.”

“I’ll take that as a compliment. Ladies love a mystery man, right?” He grazed his thumb against her palm, and she shivered.

“I guess what I’m saying is, I’m trying to figure out who the real Sean is.”

He looked down at her, his eyes sharp. “Maybe that doesn’t matter. Can’t we just be two strangers who can’t keep their hands off each other?”

Amy’s pulse started to pound. “That isn’t what I had in mind,” she said.
