Synopsis:

Wild girls get what they want… After moving to New York City, Hailey Thompson lands a job as the assistant to her older brother’s best friend - and her childhood crush - Andrew Everly. Seeing Andrew again both thrills and terrifies her. The lighthearted boy she remembers has grown into an impossibly handsome man, but he’s also become a cold and ruthless businessman. When Andrew agrees to hire Hailey as a favor to his childhood friend, he still thinks of her as the fresh-faced girl that he knew growing up.

On the contrary, she’s all woman. Temptation in a short skirt. As alluring as she is though, the little beauty is far too flighty for a man like him…not to mention that he’s her boss.

As Andrew secretly struggles with his self-control, Hailey does everything in her power to crack his rigid façade. After being forced to spend a weekend away together on business, Andrew’s rigorously sculpted mask of discipline begins to slip, and Hailey gladly takes advantage of the opportunity to educate him in the ways of seduction. He can claim all he wants that he likes his women elegant and controlled, but Hailey knows a dirty little secret…when it comes to matters of the heart, wild girls rule.

10 Things Most People Don't Know About Me
By Kella McKinnon

1.      I have a Masters Degree in molecular biology.  I spent three years in graduate school sequencing DNA, then I worked for a while in the biotech sector.

2.      I still love to listen to 80s music.  I like the 90s and 2000s too, but there’s nothing like reminiscing to a hair band anthem.

3.      When I was a kid, playing Star Wars always won out over Barbie.  I only had one friend who made me play Barbie.  The rest of the time it was Star Wars all the way.

4.      If I start a jig saw puzzle, I get so obsessed I can’t stop till it’s finished.            And so I haven’t started one in a long time, so that I can actually finish my books instead.

5.      I love old houses.  My own was built in 1788.  When my husband and I were house hunting, I drove the realtor crazy by refusing to look at anything built after 1850.  I love the feel of lived-in history.

6.      I can’t watch TV without doing something else at the same time.  My hands need to be busy, usually with some sort of craft project.

7.      I have a constant internal battle between wanting to be earthy and wanting to be glam.  Or maybe I just have a split personality, I don’t know.  Half of the time I channel the ‘nature’s child’ vibe and the other half I drool over Jimmy Choos.

8.      I’ve secretly always wanted to date a rock star.  Date yes, marry, no.  But don’t tell my husband.  He’s kind of the polar opposite of ‘rock star’.

9.      I can carve a wooden spoon out of a stick.    Seriously.  With a paring knife.

10.    If one day we learned that people have actually lived past lives, I wouldn’t be all that surprised.  I’ve known some people that even as adults seem so naïve, and others that are wise beyond their years.

About the book:

“I never thought it would go this far… that a man with such terrible secrets would steal my heart and make me want him so much, when his life of danger and lies should have made me want nothing more than to turn and run. I understood him, you see. I knew that beneath all of that money and power, and yes… violence, was a man in desperate need of love. So desperate that he took from me something I wasn’t ready to give: my future.”

Brielle Dalton thought the few months in Vegas she needed to finish her dissertation would also be a chance to have some fun before ‘real life’ took over. But she never counted on meeting Cristos Vicario, the irresistible but troubled owner of the Adagio casino. The attraction was instant and all-consuming, but in the beginning neither knew that their lives had crossed before, and the result had been nothing short of tragedy. By the time Brielle discovers who Cristos really is, and what he has done in a reckless attempt to keep her, it’s too late. She’s already in too deep.

He leaned closer.  “You smell like chocolate.”

“I had a chocolate martini with Alexis earlier.”

“I thought you were going running.”

“I did go running.  Then I met Alexis.”

“Just Alexis?”

I didn’t like his tone, it was almost accusing.  I got the sneaking suspicion that he had been spying on me.

“That’s none of your business”, I countered, suddenly a little annoyed.  Almost annoyed enough to take away his bonus points.

He pushed a hand through his hair and shook his head a little.  “I want it to be my business.”

“What is that supposed to mean?”  Did he want to control who I spent my time with?

“It means that when I’m seeing you, I want to have you all to myself.  I don’t want to share you with anyone else.”

“We’re not seeing each other… you don’t date, remember?”

“Seeing each other is not the same thing as dating”, he said, pressing his lips into a thin line.

“Yes, it is.  And since we aren’t seeing each other or dating, you have no say over what I do with my time or who I spend it with.”  I had no idea why I was even arguing with him, because even if we were dating, I was only with Lexi and her friend Dex.  And Dex was only there for a few minutes after I arrived.

He went silent for a long moment, his jaw working as he hashed something out in his mind.  “I think I want to make an exception.”

“An exception to what?” I asked, exasperated.

“The no dating rule…  I want us to be dating.”

I looked up at him in surprise.  That was just about the last thing I expected him to say.  I wondered if this was just another ploy to get me into bed.  I also wondered if he’d make me sign a waiver first like Lexi had heard.  Really rich guys did that sometimes before they dated someone, didn’t they?  A kind of non-disclosure agreement in case of a bad break-up?  Or entrapment?  The thought almost made me smile but I bit my lip instead.

“I’ll think about it”, I said.

His jaw clenched tighter and he drew a breath in through his nose, as if he was trying to rein in his temper.  “Come on, I’ll buy you a coffee.”

I grinned at him.  “You’re forgiven.”

He laughed and took my hand, leading me away to the nearest Starbucks.  “You amuse me to no end, Brielle.  I like that.”

After coffee, he brought me to a really classy sushi place, and ordered a wide selection for me to try.

“You know, this is the third evening in a row you’ve taken me to dinner.”

He gave me a sexy look.  “That’s because we’re dating.”

“I haven’t agreed to dating.”

“I don’t care what you did or didn’t agree to. I say we’re dating.  In fact… I want you to move to the Adagio.  There’s a suite of rooms open on the floor below mine that would be perfect for you.”

I narrowed my eyes at him.  “Uh uh, no way.  I’m perfectly fine where I am.”

“Brielle, where you’re staying is dangerous, not to mention… unsavory.  I don’t want you there, not when I own an entire hotel.”

I rested my chin in the palm of my hand and gave him my most stubborn look.  “No.”

I took another deep breath.  “Whatever it is, you can tell me, Criss.”

He looked over at me, and I could see the pain and confusion in his eyes for the first time, plain as day.  It gutted me.

“No, I can’t, Brie.  It’s not just that I don’t want to.  It’s dangerous, and the less anyone but me knows, the better.  Can you understand that?”  He was watching me closely again, like he had last night, as if he was looking for even the slightest reaction.

I sat back a little, stunned, but not really surprised.  I had guessed a long time ago that he might be tangled up in some sort of questionable activities, but dangerous?  For the life of me I couldn’t imagine what he could be involved in that had him this uptight.  The mob?  A loan shark?  No, he had too much money to owe anyone anything.  Drugs?  I’d never seen him use any, or seen any signs that he ever had… and… well, I just couldn’t think of anything else.

“Okay… What do you want then?  Do you want us to be over?”  I knew I should be running in the other direction as fast as I could right now, but instead every single cell in my body was hoping he’d say no.

“No, Brie.”

Thank god.  I think.

I took a deep breath.  “Why would you think I was out to get you?  Why would I be spying on you?  I never even knew who you were until Lexi told me.”

“I just… I’ve been burned before, that’s all.  And I never saw it coming.”

“I see.”

“Look… I know it’s wrong and I know that when all is said and done you’ll probably end up hating me, but no.  I couldn’t stand for us to be over.  It would kill me.”

“Then that’s all I need to hear, for now anyway.  Just promise me that when you can tell me things, you will.”

He nodded, but his eyes shifted away from mine.  He might never tell me, but for right now, I’d take what I could get.  And what I wanted most in that moment was to hold him and touch him and breathe in the warm scent of his skin.  If it wasn’t love that I felt for this man, it was getting awfully close.  The question remained though, if I ever got to know the part of him he was hiding from me, would I feel the same?

“Take me back to your place, please, Criss.”

He looked over at me, then picked up my hand and squeezed it.  “Thank you, for understanding.  It’s more than I should ask of you.”  He gave me a sad smile and then started the car, shifting into gear and pulling away from the curb.  This time, the ride was much calmer.

We went straight up to the penthouse and he took off all of his clothes, then undressed me slowly, pausing to kiss each part of my body as he uncovered it.

All but my lips.

About the book:

USA Today bestselling contemporary romance author Toni Blake continues her new, heartwarming series set in the beachside town of Coral Cove.

When the question is love, the answer is always yes…

Camille Thompson is the best at what she does-closing deals. That’s why real estate developer Vanderhook has sent her to Coral Cove, Florida, where the stubborn owner of the Happy Crab Motel is refusing to sell. Camille’s never had a problem turning a “no” into a “yes”, but then she’s never been so captivated by a man’s sexy smile before.

Laidback Reece Donovan likes life simple. No amount of money - or any other temptation Camille can offer - will convince him to give up the one link to his past. Of course, it would be easier without the powerful chemistry raging between them.

As a fragile romance begins to grow, can Reece trust Camille with his secrets? And when promises are broken, along with hearts, can the charm of Coral Cove help bring them back together?

Reece balked, taking in the sight before him.  If he’d been drinking, he’d think he was seeing things.  But since he was completely sober, he had no choice but to conclude that the stiff, starched, manipulative woman who’d tried to wheedle him out of his motel a few minutes ago was now standing on a bed in Room 11 wearing nothing but a towel and looking a little crazy.

“What the hell’s going on in here?  Were you screaming?  What happened?”

Stark terror shone in her blue eyes as she pointed toward the bathroom.  “It’s in there!” she said.  Which wasn’t exactly the helpful explanation he’d been hoping for.

He just blinked his confusion.  “What’s in where?”

She shook her head nervously, her eyes still filled with fright.  “I don’t know what the hell it is, but it’s in my tub!  It’s – it’s … a dinosaur or something!”

Reece narrowed his eyes.  He was pretty sure there wasn’t a dinosaur in her tub.

But he strode into the bathroom, glanced down, and – oh, now he understood.

Riley had finished some plumbing work in this very room earlier – that was why Reece had given it to her; he’d known nothing would leak or dribble.  And apparently Riley had had some company while he worked.  Stepping back out of the bathroom, Reece glanced back toward the panicked, naked woman on the bed and gave her a quick grin.

“That’s not a dinosaur.  It’s just Fifi.”

The naked woman squinted down at him.  “Fifi?”

“My giant iguana.”

Now it was she who blinked and looked confused.  “Your giant what?”

“I-gua-na,” he said, enunciating each syllable in case she was hard of hearing or something.

She continued to appear horrified.  “You have an iguana?  They come that big?  Why would you have such a thing?”

He didn’t bother hiding his amusement.  She didn’t seem nearly as tough as she’d claimed back in his office, or even as tough as she’d actually seemed.  “Yep.  And that’s why it’s called a giant iguana – because it’s giant.  And she’s a pet.”

Despite the clear answers he’d given, she still looked completely perplexed, her mouth open in the shape of a perfect ‘o’.  “A pet,” she repeated dryly.

“Uh huh.”

“Strange pet.”

He shrugged.  “Different strokes.”  Then he glanced back into the bathroom.  Fifi was agitated, hissing and swishing her tail.  No wonder, with all that screaming.  He spoke in a soothing voice to say, “It’s all right, girl, everything’s okay.  Nobody’s gonna hurt you.”  After which he glanced back to Cami – a name which, frankly, he thought suited her much more than Camille. Especially when she was naked.  “You scared her,” he accused.

Cami’s eyes flew wide.  “I scared her?”  Then she shook her head.  “What on earth is it doing in my room?”

This woman was earning no points with him by calling Fifi ‘it’.
“She must have gotten locked in when some work was being done in here this morning,” he explained.  “Happens occasionally and I have to go looking for her.  Sorry about that.”  Though it was hard to keep a straight face for the last part since he wasn’t really sorry at all.  For a normal guest, he’d have been sorry – but for this one, he actually thought it was pretty damn funny.  As long as Fifi didn’t end up too traumatized.

“You don’t look very sorry,” Cami pointed out.

“I’m as sorry as I can be,” he told her, which was the truth.  He just couldn’t be very sorry at the moment.  Then he raised his eyebrows to add, “You can come down off the bed now.”

At which point she started to appear a little more … aware of things.  Like maybe that she’d blown her tough-business-woman cover.  And like maybe that she wasn’t wearing any clothes.

The towel covered way more than any bikini, but it was still sexy as hell.  And part of him didn’t want to think a piranha like her could be sexy – but on the other hand, sexy was sexy and what guy was immune to it?

Back in the office, he’d known she was an attractive, confident woman with a pretty face and a shapely body.  But now he was seeing … more of her.  And not just skin.  Now he was seeing that she was … human.  And human plus attractive … somehow he couldn’t stop seeing the sexiness now.  Even if he thought she’d blown the Fifi thing out of proportion.

As she stepped toward the edge of the bed and he held out his hand to help her down, his gaze dropped to the creamy round curves swelling from the top edge of the terrycloth and he couldn’t help thinking his seafoam green guest towels had never looked quite so hot before.
After reaching the floor, she clearly realized where he was looking and drew back her hand with a gasp.

He flinched at the move.  “You’re naked,” he said in his defense.  “I can’t help it.”

“But you burst in without even knocking,” she accused.

“You screamed.  Don’t scream if you don’t want somebody to burst in.”

She let out a small harrumph, apparently conceding the point – or at least unable to invent a comeback.

“I thought there was actually something wrong,” he went on, suddenly feeling a little indignant.  Given the racket she’d made, he’d been envisioning something like an intruder, or fire.

“Something was wrong,” she insisted.

“Yeah,” he said, not trying to hide his sarcasm, “my dinosaur was in your bathtub.”  He took a couple of steps back in that direction, glancing toward the iguana to say softly, “Come on, Fifi Girl.  Come on outta there and let’s go.”  Then he made the little kissy sound she often responded to and watched as she began to climb slowly out of the tub, calmer now than when he’d first arrived.  “Good girl.”

Cami took a few tense steps back as Fifi followed him out into the room, wariness filling her gaze.

“She’s harmless,” he promised.  “For a dinosaur.”  He quirked an amused grin her way.

She didn’t smile back.

He returned his glanced to Fifi, who was admittedly a slow mover, as she followed him toward the door, speaking to her in a playful voice.  “She thought you were a dinosaur, Feefe.”  Then he looked to Cami and lifted his hands into monster like claws and said, “Rawr!”

She flinched.

And he let out a laugh.

And she made a mean face at him, which he just ignored.

“A shame there wasn’t a dinsosaur in your tub,” he mused.  “I’d be rich.”

“You could be rich anyway if you’d just sell me your –”

“Stop,” he said, holding up one hand, palm facing her.  “Not gonna happen.”

And to his pleasant surprise, she actually stayed quiet.  Probably worn out from the big dinosaur scare.

As he and Fifi reached the door, he looked back a final time to say, “Have a nice night, Cami.”

“My name is Camille,” she pointed out once again.

But he only shrugged.  “You say tomato,” he replied, then cheerfully whistled the tomato-tomahto song as he waited for Fifi to amble out behind him, then shut the door and walked away.

About the book:

Keisha Beale has an ‘arrangement’ with one of the richest men in Chicago, who treats her like a queen, but she wants normalcy for the holidays. Well, as much normal as you can get from a man like Tristan White, who has everything and doesn’t think love is something he needs.

Jada Jameson’s dark past may be surprising to some considering the family she comes from. Nathan White wants her in every way a man wants a woman, but she needs hardcore kink, and the pace at which their relationship is progressing has left her wanting more. Will the ladies of Kente Studio Records get everything they want from their first Christmas with the White brothers?

EXCERPT

Tristan came prepared, of course. He had a big-assed gift bag for Mama, and even a present for the Reverend. I shook my head.

“What?” he says.

“You never do anything half-assed,” I say.

He smirks. “It’s like you like to say, ‘Go big or stay home.’”

Those are strange words coming from a man the cost of whose suit could feed all the homeless people in Chicago on Christmas Day. He reaches to ring the doorbell, but I touch his hand and stop him.

“Why do you go to such lengths with my mother? I’m your submissive. Nothing more.” I gesture toward his gifts. “All this is making her think this thing between us is more than it really is.”

He seems taken aback for a moment, but then he responds. “You’re wrong. You’re my business partner, and I hope, after almost a year, you would now consider me a friend.”

“With benefits,” I say morosely. “At this rate, you’re going to have to break up with both of us when you decide it’s time to move on.”

“Do you want me to beg off? I could get a call and leave.”

I don’t get to answer because Mama swings the door open. “Well, are you two going to stand out her yakking, or are you coming in?”

“Coming in.”

“Most definitely,” Tristan and I say almost simultaneously.

The first thing my Mama did on Christmas Day was embarrass the hell out of me. Two Christmases before I’d given her a digital camera and a miniature photo printer to take pictures of all the grandchildren my brothers had blessed her with. They’d all gotten a head start because I was what Mama called her pre-menopausal baby. I’d thought she’d gotten over the ‘shutter bug,’ but she proved me wrong.

While Tristan leans in and gives Mama a hug and presents her with his gift, Reverend Johnson gives me a hug. After all the greetings are done, and we’ve hung our coats on the coat tree, Mama grabs her camera off an end table.

“There’s mistletoe,” she says pointing at the ceiling above us.

“I’ve never been one to let a perfectly good cluster of mistletoe go to waste,” Tristan says and sweeps me into his arms and plants a back-bending, dramatic movie-style kiss on me.

“Awww,” Mama says and snaps, but the camera’s flash malfunctions.
“One more, one more.”

“So sad, you missed your chance,” I say and begin to move away.

Mama’s not having it. “Come on, Keisha, be a sport now. Tristan, don’t let her get away.”

Of course, he does exactly what Mama says and pulls me back underneath the mistletoe. “Come on, sweetheart, let’s make this holiday memorable for your mother.” Tristan scoots in close, bends his knees, and holds me in a tight hug, cheek-to-cheek, and our faces angled toward Mama and her camera.

“Big smile,” Mama says. We smile on cue and she gets her money shot, but Tristan doesn’t let me go. He leans in and kisses me tenderly really laying it on thick for Mama.

“Awww,” she says again. “You remind us old geezers what it’s like to be young and in love.”

Tristan and I both stiffen, but I recover first and pat his back, as if I’m soothing him, because I’m sure those words have shocked the shit out of him. My eyes shoot daggers at Mama, but she just smiles and acts all aloof.
